Spinosaurus was first discovered in the 1940's, but the original fossils were destroyed in a World War II bombing raid in Germany. More complete fossil skeletons have been discovered, and they show that it had a 6 foot tall sail on its back. It had a long, crocodile-like snout, and long arms. It had three clawed fingers, wit the first one being quite hook-like, supposedly used in catching fish, like bears do today. The purpose of the sail is not entirely known, but some scientists believe that it could have been used for warmth regulation. It had straight conical teeth that were perfect for holding slippery fish. It is in the spinosaur family of theropod dinosaurs, with others being Baryonyx and Suchomimus.
